Almeida has an amazing Jiu Jistu pedigree and a fantastic reputation in Mixed Martial Arts. A BJJ black belt under Renzo Gracie, Almeida has fought in the UFC, PRIDE and is a former Middleweight King of Pancrase.

In his early UFC career, he fought the likes of Matt Lindland and Andrei Seminov, and holds victories over Kazuo Misaki, Nathan Marquardt and Ryo Chonan.

He recently took a three year hiatus from Mixed Martial Arts to develop a Jiu Jitsu school in New Jersey, but recently made his return to the Octagon at UFC 81, defeating Rob Yundt by first round submission.
