A veteran of PRIDE, SuperBrawl, K-1 and the UFC, for a short time Barnett was the youngest UFC Heavyweight Champion ever. He beat Randy Couture for the belt in 2002 at UFC 36. He was subsequently stripped of the title after testing positive for anabolic steroids following the match.
After leaving the UFC organization in 2002, Barnett became a staple of the PRIDE organization, posting victories over notable fighters like Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mark Hunt, Aleksander Emelianenko, Dan Severn and Yuki Kondo.
He coupled his popularity in Japan with a Pro Wrestling career in the New Japan Pro Wrestling organization.
