Originally from Toronto, Canada, Salaverry is a veteran of Shooto, K-1, Hook n Shoot and UFC fight organizations.

Getting his start in 1999, Salaverry entered the UFC at UFC 37 in 2002, winning his first match by TKO. He lost his next match in the UFC to legend Matt Lindland then briefly left the UFC to fight in the K-1 organization.

Back in the UFC, Salaverry holds notable wins against Joe Riggs and Tony Fryklund, and most recently suffered a TKO loss at the hands of Terry Martin at UFC 71.
