Herring is a long standing veteran of the PRIDE FC. Known for powerful knees and great stand up.
He spent 4 years as one of the most popular fighters in PRIDE, going 12 – 5 during his tenure before leaving due to a contract dispute.
People will remember him from a notorious incident where he knocked out an opponent before the opening bell when he was kissed by his opponent during the introductions.
His UFC debut was against fellow PRIDE veteran Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, where they met at UFC 73 – Stacked for a third time. Herring lost that fight by unanimous decision, although he very nearly knock Nogueira out with a kick in the first round.
He is currently taking a break from fighting to spend time with his family.
