Tennis Betting Sony Ericsson Championships
The Sony Ericsson Championships is an annual tournament played at the end of the season for the top-ranked players on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour. Unlike other tennis tournaments played through the calendar year, the Sony Ericsson Championships adopts a Round Robin format. The eight-woman line-up is divided into two groups of four and each play three Round Robin matches against the other three players in their group. The two players with the best records in each respective group move in to the final four. From the knockout semi-final round, the winners advance into the final to determine the champion.
After two phenomenal years (2006-07) in Madrid, Spain, the Sony Ericsson Championships heads to the Middle East for the next three editions with the Qatari capital – Doha – hosting the WTA Tour season-ending extravaganza.
The 2008 instalment of the Sony Ericsson Championships promises to be the biggest tennis event ever held in the region as the WTA Tour’s Top 8 singles players and Top 4 doubles teams compete for the $4.45 million in prize money.
