Tennis Betting Davis Cup
The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men’s tennis that pits nation against nation in a battle of supremacy. Boasting an illustrious 105-year history, the Davis Cup is the largest annual international team competition in world sport contested between teams of players from competing countries in a knockout format. Throughout the celebrated history of the tournament – conceived one summer day in 1899 by four members of the Harvard University tennis team when they wished to challenge the British to a tennis competition – almost all the tennis greats of the sport answered the call of their nation for Davis Cup duty. What began as a challenge issued to Britain, has grown to a challenge that more than 100 nations accept today.
Davis Cup is not your typical tennis tournament and betting on the Davis Cup offers a different tennis betting excitement as individual players compete for their national teams. From the time Dwight Filly Davis created this distinguished competition, there has been a continuous stream of elite players enlisting to represent their nations. Arthur Ashe, John McEnroe, Yannick Noah, Jimmy Connors, Stefan Edberg, Mats Wilander, Boris Becker and Andre Agassi were just some of the many tennis titans who graced the courts to battle for the glory of their homelands, enriching Davis Cup accounts with their involvement and stories of their incredible feats.
Since the cup was commissioned in 1899, only twelve nations have won the title.
