UFC 92 Undercard Evensen vs Barry

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

Before Rashad Evans and Forest Griffin enter the cage on Saturday night, Dan Evensen and Pat Barry will throw down in what should start off UFC 92 the right way.

Evensen is a tough guy. He has built a record of 10 and 3 by mainly using his speed and agility to get out of difficult situation. Of course, none of that mattered in his last fight when getting knocked out, albeit technically, by Cheick Kongo.

Evensen has a strong left hook and he will try to strike at Barry with it during this entire fight.

Barry is only 3 and 0 but he is already one of the most feared fighters in UFC because of his ability to strike at will and strike with power. He’s a straight up fighter who hits like a hammer.

Here are the BetUS UFC sportsbook betting odds for this fight.

Dan Evensen + 175

Pat Barry - 225

The problem that Dan Evensen is going to have in this fight is that even though he is taller than Barry at 6’ 3” to Barry’s 5’ 11” and heavier than Barry at 260 pounds to Barry’s 235, Evensen considers himself a striker and therefore doesn’t have enough wrestling skills to counter Barry.

When two strikers meet in the ring in UFC, often times the winner is determined by who is the quickest with his hands and who can back up his speed with power. Unfortunately for Evensen, I just don’t see him turning the tables on Barry in either department.

Evensen is a tough guy but this match-up really isn’t in his favor. He’s facing a guy who can strike with more power and quicker than he can. Evensen’s only real shot is to try and get Barry to the mat and ground and pound but Evensen doesn’t really have the skills to do it.

Barry is inexperienced but he’s facing a fighter that should play right into his hands. I see Barry winning this at the online odds of – 225 in the BetUS online sportsbook.
