UFC 92 Betting The Ultimate Main Event Griffin vs Evans

UFC 92: Best Bet is in the Main Event!
Fight-night: 12/27/2008
I don’t believe in locks. The problem with betting what some sports betting fans consider a lock is that locks don’t always come through. Take for example when Curlin lost in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
The locks that do come through for online sportsbook betting fans are usually locks that offer very little value in the BetUS Sportsbook.
I prefer to look for “best bets”. What I mean by best bets is finding the likeliest online bet that is providing the most value. For instance, betting the Los Angeles Lakers to beat the New Orleans Hornets at home. Or betting the New York Giants at + 12 ½ in the 2008 Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. According to the online betting spread, the lock was the Patriots. But the best bet in the game was on the Giants.
Such is the case with the main event in UFC 92 on Saturday. Is Rashad Evans a lock? No, he most certainly is not. But is he the best online bet on the card? Yes, he most certainly is.
Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds for the fight between Forest Griffin and Rashad Evans:
Forest Griffin - 130
Rashad Evans - 110
Forest Griffin is one of the most popular fighters in UFC. There’s a reason for that. He has more heart than almost any fighter I have ever seen in the history of MMA. He also has terrific grappling skills and he is well-rounded enough to pretty much keep himself in a fight all of the time.
He has a decided height advantage over Evans who is only 5’ 11”. Everything about this fight points to Griffin beating Evans. Griffin has fought better fighters, he has better all round skills and he’s almost impossible to knock-out.
Why, then, is Rashad Evans the best online bet of the night at UFC 92? He’s undefeated and you don’t go undefeated in UFC, with a record of 17 and 0, unless you know what you’re doing.
Here’s the thing about Evans. From the outset of his UFC career, he has been considered a wrestler. Well, things have changed. Not only is Evans a terrific wrestler, which means he can fight on the ground if he needs to, he’s an unbelievable striker. His left hook is the most mesmerizing in UFC, just ask Chuck Lidell, and his ability to throw it from different angles means that Griffin is going to have to really pay attention defensively.
That’s going to be Evans’s biggest strength. The fear surrounding his striking ability will affect how Griffin approaches this fight. If Griffin moves forward, Evans can counter with strikes.
If Griffin decides to play defense, then Evans can move forward with his left. Griffin is going to have to make a big decision in this fight. Either decision, I believe, is going to be the wrong one. Griffin won’t be able to strategically fight his fight because of Evans’s striking ability.
This has the makings of a classic fight, but in the end, Rashad Evans is the obvious winner in my eyes. He’s the best bet on the UFC 92 card at the UFC betting odds of – 110.
That’s the bet that I will be making. I’m going to throw some money behind Rashad Evans at – 110 to beat Forest Griffin in the main even in UFC 92.
