UFC 106 Betting - Amir Sadollah (-220) vs. Phil Baroni (+175)
by Tim Furious

The ascension of Amir Sadollah has been stagnated since his 29-second loss to Johny Hendricks by TKO at UFC 101: Declaration. Injuries, bad luck and a stoppage by the ref that was way too early have stopped Amir from becoming the fighter he was supposed to be after winning TUF 7. Well here comes the trash talking Phil Baroni off to kick start Amir’s second surge.
Baroni is a low-life in every sense of the word. He’s been in shouting matches with Frank Shamrock, been caught using steroids, bounced around the UFC, Elite XC and Strikeforce and is now being thrust in to the ring against Amir, basically, to give Sadollah a free win.
I mean, the guy is 13-11 SU in 24 fights and is 2-5 SU in the UFC. He last fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC 51, and capped his last visit to the UFC with four consecutive losses.
While Baroni made a name for himself as a slugger (think Forrest Griffin except 20x more unlikeable and about 50x less talented), he’s in for a real black-eye opener when he steps in to the ring with the younger Sadollah.
Baroni simply doesn’t have the well-rounded arsenal to compete in the UFC 106 anymore and Sadollah needs this fight far more than Baroni does.
While the pressure is mounting for Sadollah after a stunning loss to John Hendricks, once he uses the first round to see what Baroni is made of, he’ll be written off fast and easy.
Don’t worry too much about Sadollah in this fight. Once he sees that Baroni isn’t anywhere close to his level, his confidence will come thundering back leading to a submission in the second round.
Furious Free Pick: Sadollah -220 OVER Baroni +175
