UFC 105 Betting - James Wilks (+125) vs. Matt Brown (-155)
by Nick Meyer

Former Ultimate Fighter contestants are usually taken care of by the UFC, and that explains the prime slot the James Wilks vs. Matt Brown fight has been given at UFC 105.
Both guys flew under the radar a bit during their respective seasons of The Ultimate Fighter but they’re on the main card now serving as a warm-up to UFC 105’ main event of Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera.
Are they ready for the spotlight? Maybe, but how each young guy handles the big stage will definitely go a long way toward determining how they fare and whether those who bet on them will be happy come Saturday night.
The BetUs.com Sportsbook has predicted a close battle between the two solid all-around fighters and true mixed martial artists as Matt Brown is a somewhat slight favorite at -155 odds to +125 for the underdog James Wilks.
Wilks has the distinction of being an Ultimate Fighter winner in the welterweight class for season nine and he will have the home crowd behind him in Manchester, England as well. He has a smooth all-around game and is a solid athlete who has shown a strong ability to transition between positions, strikes, and other moves to put himself in a position to finish fights.
Brown on the other hand has shown something a little different in most of his fights, particularly of late, as Amir Sadollah’s prediction “Matt Brown by murder” continues to stick with him as he unleashes his rage in the Octagon. Brown likes to swarm opponents with his heavy hands and solid all-around muay thai strking attacks, and it’s usually successful. He definitely has the power advantage in this fight and that’s his biggest weapon.
Wilks will be able to frustrate Brown if he sticks to a smart game plan and makes him fight somewhat cautiously. But one big shot will be his downfall as Brown continues his impressive transformation into an exciting and devastating fighter with a big win at UFC 105.
The pick: Matt Brown (-155) by TKO in the first round.
