The UFC has been out of the headlines for a little while now with football season starting, but it’s about to be back in a big way.

Next Wednesday, September 16 will be like Christmas in September for both diehard and casual MMA alike as the organization will feature both an excellent Fight Night card from Oklahoma City and the premiere of The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 featuring Kimbo Slice.

The Fight Night’s main event features hard-hitting Melvin Guillard against Nate Diaz, the submission specialist. Both are talented lightweights but Diaz is a -260 to +200 favorite going into the fight.

Gray Maynard, one of the top young lightweight contenders, will also go against Roger Huerta, a former contender who has elite talent and has recently been focusing on his acting career. This fight probably is more deserving of the main event status but it will be a great one nonetheless with Maynard looking more and more to put on shows in addition to just outwrestling opponents. If he tries to strike with Huerta we could see major fireworks.

Maynard is a -300 to +220 favorite in the fight by virtue of his superior wrestling and lack of “Octagon rust.”

Dan Miller was supposed to take on TUF alum CB Dollaway but had to drop out of the fight due to a bad infection.

Nate Quarry and Tim Credeur will continue the trend of former TUF fighters going at it on the same night as The Ultimate Fighter premiere, with Quarry listed at -260 to +200 odds. Quarry’s got the power while Credeur has better grappling but this fight could be a repeat of the Nate Marquardt-Demian Maia contest from UFC 102.

Steve Cantwell and Brian Stann will renew their former WEC rivalry as well, with Cantwell the -300 to +220 favorite due to his better submission game.

Plenty of other talented fighters are also lurking on the fight night card including Brock Larson, Carlos Condit, and Sam Stout, so be sure to head over to the Sportsbook to check out the action as the big day approaches.

And then tune in to The Ultimate Fighter just afterwards to see if Slice can live up to his hype will facing off against four massive former NFL players along with established heavyweights like Roy Nelson, the former IFL champ.

UFC 103 is just three days later as well from Dallas, so MMA bettors have a lot on their plate this fall along with their football counterparts.
