UFC 96 Recap - We told you so

UFC 96 is in the books and if you followed the advice in our UFC free picks articles you should have made some money because we nailed almost every fight.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson ended up beating Keith Jardine via decision, but it wasn’t nearly as easy as the UFC odds indicated. A title fight against Rashad Evans is next up for Rampage and fans are already buzzing about it after the altercation in the ring between Evans and Jackson. Jackson might want to take it easy before stepping into the ring with Evans as it will be a monster fight that will be monumental in defining his career.
Enough about the main event, the undercard had everything you would want to see in a night of fights.
Let’s re-cap UFC 96!
UFC 96: Re-cap
Ryan Madigan +300 vs. Tamdan McCrory -400 - - McCrory was the big favorite in the fight and he didn’t disappoint, stopping Madigan at 3:35 of the first round via TKO.
Shane Nelson +175 vs. Aaron Riley -220 - - This one was over quickly as Riley dominated Nelson by striking him repeatedly in the first round. The referee ended it at 1:44 of round one. But there was some controversy as it appeared the referee ended the fight prematurely.
Jason Brilz +120 vs. Tim Boetsch -150 - - Brilz made more than one UFC betting fan happy by outpointing the favored Tim Boetsch 29 to 28 on all three judge’s scorecards.
Jason Day +160 vs. Kendall Grove -200 - - Grove ended his bout with Day early via strikes in the first round. Grove had his back against the cage in terms of his future with the UFC but with an impressive win he has lived to fight another day.
Jim Miller +140 vs. Gray Maynard -170 - - Maynard didn’t knock Miller out, but he looked good in winning a unanimous decision over long shot Jim Miller. Each judge scored it 30 to 27 for Maynard.
Matt Brown +110 vs. Pete Sell -140 - - This was a fight that went to the long shot as Matt Brown knocked out Pete Sell by TKO in round 1. Sell had no chance as Brown jumped on him early and often in their bout.
Michael Patt +450 vs. Brandon Vera -600 - - Long shot Michael Patt had no shot in this fight as Brandon Vera leg kicked his way to a TKO at 1:27 of round 2. Vera became the biggest favorite, at -600, to win this past Saturday night.
Mark Munoz +140 vs. Matt Hamill -170 - - Munoz was undefeated going into his bout versus Matt Hamill, but Hamill made sure Munoz didn’t leave the Octagon undefeated. Hamill ended Munoz’s undefeated career with a vicious head kick at 3:35 of round 1.
Gabriel Gonzaga -185 vs. Shane Carwin +145 - - Gonzaga entered the ring as a favorite against Carwin and looked as though he was going to end the fight early as he had Carwin stunned and in the ground, but Carwin stood up and dropped Gonzaga with one short right hand. Carwin is now 11-0 and a major player in the very crowded heavy weight division.
Quinton Jackson -350 vs. Keith Jardine +250 - - Jackson didn’t look great, but he did enough as the favorite to outpoint Jardine after three rounds. Up next for Rampage is a title shot against Rashad Evans in a fight where no love will be lost.
