Preakness Props - Where is the easy money?
by BetUS Staff

The BetUs race book offers the chance for you to select from a variety of Preakness Stakes wagers including who will finish in the top two or three positions in the second jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown. Some interesting facts might give the bettor a better insight on what chances these wagers have to add to the bankroll come Preakness Day!
Mine That Bird- Top 2 Finish +135 / Top 3 Finish -175 The Derby Champ was 50-1 only two weeks ago and will be without the services of rider Calvin Borel. A fast track and many returning Derby horses indicate that few fear this incredible underdog.
Pioneer of the Nile- Top 2 Finish +150 Santa Anita Derby winner got 2nd in the Derby so a top two placing in the Preakness seems logical. Will finally have a fast dirt track to run on and even if Rachel Alexandra runs her best this colt will not be far behind.
Papa Clem- Top 2 Finish +235 / Top 3 Finish +140 Gritty performer is just a cut below the cream of the Preakness crop. The Arkansas Derby winner couldn’t hold onto the show spot in the Kentucky Derby at the shadow of the wire and hasn’t worked particularly well since that race.
Musket Man – Top 3 Finish +200 Doesn’t really have the pedigree to go the distance but this one is all heart. Only off the board one time in whole career and 2/1 in the show pool is a lot better than you will get at Pimlico, especially if the filly hits the board.
Big Drama – Top 2 Finish +335 / Top 3 Finish +200 Looks to go to the lead with Rachel Alexandra and will probably be hard used from the outset. A mile and three sixteenths seems a little out of reach and may fall victim to the closers in the lane.
Friesan Fire – Top 3 Finish +150 Derby favorite hated off going at Churchill and has to be a better horse than his dismal 18th place showing. Will be stalking leaders and should have first run heading for home.
Tone it Down – Top 3 Finish +1000 Only local horse in the field is an interesting play. Icabad Crane was another local horse who got 3rd money in the Preakness in 2008 at 22-1 and the hometown hero Magic Weisner nearly scored a huge Preakness upset but placed 2nd in 2002. This is a fun play for a few dollars.
