Friday night horse racing betting at Hollywood Park almost always provides online racebook handicappers with a chance to make some serious dollars. Even if you are licking your chops waiting for the Belmont Stakes and Big Brown, there are sports betting money opportunities to be made now. Turf racing at night is usually where the dollar bills are at!
Let’s get to the pick!
Race-time: 12:53 a.m. est.
Hollywood Park Race 7
$53,000 n1x State Bred Allowance
1 mile turf
Brian the Bold - - 7/2 morning line
This son out of Cee’s Tizzy has pretty good turf form. The only issue is that he’s only won once out of 11 tries. That doesn’t bother too much, however, because trainer Paddy Gallagher definitely knows how to get horses ready for the turf. Alex Solis is a terrific turf jocky and Brian the Bold goes into this 1 mile turf race after almost getting there at 1 1/16th miles. We could do worse then to use this horse as our key in this race.
Comoros - - 5/1 morning line
There isn’t a whole lot speed in this race. That means that this lightly raced Comic Strips should be close to South Coast, the morning line favorite and potential front-runner in this field. Comoros will get first jump on South Coast and, if his last race is any indication, could actually beat that one to the wire. Comoros finished behind Brian the Bold in his last, but he could the turn the tables on my number one pick.
Mr. Chairman - - 3/1 morning line

Gets Bejarano and comes down from Bay Meadows to try the Hollywood Park lawn. Trainer Doug O’Neil is very good with these types of horses. I’m not crazy about the morning line and I do think that Mr. Chairman might go off the chalk, but nobody can deny that he has a legit shot to win this race. His turf form is pretty darn good and there aren’t a lot of really good horses in here.
Wagering Strategy
I’ll place an online bet on Brian the Bold to win and place as well as using Brian the Bold in exacta and trifecta boxes with Comoros and Mr. Chairman.
