I’ve been keeping tabs on this one! The daughter of superstar turf sire Unusual Heat lost by 14 lengths in her maiden debut going 5.5 furlongs on Santa Anita’s cushion track. Trainer Barry Abrams then put her into a 6 furlong sprint at Hollywood Park on May 4th where she lost by 3 ½ lengths. That should have set her up perfectly for this 1 mile race on the turf. She looked like she wanted more ground in that turf sprint and she’s going to get it. Abrams is hitting with 25% of his horses. That makes this filly the one to beat in tomorrow’s sixth at Hollywood Park.

Belleacton - - 5/1 morning line

No in the money finishes in five straight maiden tries, four of them on the turf, says that she probably isn’t worthy of the number two slot in this race. But her trainer, Neil Drysdale, would have given up on her if he thought that she couldn’t run. She also has more speed in this thing then anybody else and might find herself with the lead cutting out soft fractions. That, or jockey David Flores might try to rate her some. Either way, she’s going to break through with a win eventually - - Drysdale is just too good of a trainer. Why not today?

June My Love - - 5/2 morning line

The morning line chalk hasn’t broken her maiden in 11 tries. She’s finished second in her last two races. She’ll put in a good run, she always does, but she’ll also find some way to lose. She does get the services of Rafael Bejarano but she could definitely bounce off of three straight speed ratings that are within a point of each other. This inconsistent filly is no where close to being worth the 5 to 2 odds. But she’s good enough to finish third!

Wagering Strategy

I’m going to bet Unusual Strike to win and place and then key her in exactas, up and down, with Belleacton and June My Love. I’m also going to put all three horses into a trifecta box.
