Horse Pick of the Day - Woodbine Race 7

Bookmark and Share by D.S Williamson

There’s great racing up north in Toronto, Canada, at Woodbine. Usually, it’s never difficult to find large fields and a long-shot or two that could help online racebook fans pad their bankrolls. You’re not going to find a Big Brown or Casino Drive in these races, but you will find some decent overall horses.

Let’s get to the horse pick of the day!

Woodbine Race 7

$69,000 Allowance n2L

1 1/16th miles on artificial surface

Great It Tiz - - 7/2 morning line

This 5-year old gelding out of 29% winner Tim Regan’s barn sure looks solid in this spot. Regan wins at 50% right after a maiden score. Not only is Great It Tiz running off of a maiden win, but he’s stretching out from 7 furlongs to this two turn distance. That means he will probably keep his odds which is paramount in a race where the chalk figures to be super-chalky. I like the fact that unheralded jockey D.J. David thinks enough about this gelding to stick with him after the maiden score. Who knows? Maybe horse and jockey will keep it going here. The speed rating is nice as well. No issues that I can see should keep this guy out of the winner’s circle!

Money Spitter - - 5/2 morning line

The morning line chalk and probable race-time chalk sure looks good from a pace and speed perspective. He’s also lightly raced with only four races to his credit, but he’s failed at this level in his last two. That’s not a good sign at all because this level at Woodbine rarely produces a stakes caliber winner. Maybe, Money Spitter just likes to run on the track and doesn’t have that winner’s mentality? In any case, low odds means that I have to stay away.

No Never More - - 6/1 morning line

This five year old gelding has lost miserably in his last two races at this level for 23% winning trainer Anne Cameron. The good news is that No Never More has been in the money in 7 of his 18 lifetime starts. Sure, there’s only one win to his credit, but finishing third in this thing isn’t out of the question for No Never More. It’s his third race off the layoff and finding a suitable play after Great It Tiz and Money Spitter sure is difficult to do in this thing.

Wagering Strategy

I’m going to bet Great It Tiz to win and place as well as putting Great It Tiz into an exacta box with Money Spitter. I’ll make an online bet with Great It Tiz in a smaller exacta box, much smaller, with No Never More.

Good luck!
