There are some talented mares in this field like Catsalot and Asanti, but Lupita’sluckyangel has something over all of them. She’s won at this distance not just once but 5 times, figures to get the lead or lie right off of Asanti and is flat out the best bet in this race. She figures to go off at higher odds than the 4 to 1 listed as well since she’s moving up in class. It’s going to be difficult for any other horse in this race to get to her in time and if Asanti goes with her, expect Lupita to roll past that rival in the lane.

Asanti - - 2/1 morning line odds

Her 2-3-2 record out of 7 races is pretty good, but her speed ratings don’t peg her as a 2 to 1 favorite in this race. Still, she has the most upside out of any of the horses in this and Juan Paco Gonzalez, her trainer, is underrated. Garrett Gomez is the best jockey in the world, but she’s never gone this far over the cushion track and maybe, just maybe, she’s more hype than talent.

Powerofvoodoo - - 8/1 morning line odds

The 2 for 39 lifetime mare sired by Unusual Heat certainly has the ability to do something in this race, but more often than not she lopes along and then makes a mild run to the finish line. Still, if she makes her move and for some reason Asanti and Lupita’sluckyangel just don’t fire, then Powerofvoodoo figures to be right there at the end at huge odds.

Wagering Strategy

Lupita’sluckyangel is a stand out in this race based on pace and experience. I will bet her to win only. I will play an exacta with Lupita’sluckyangel over Asanti and Powerofvoodoo. I will reverse for less.
