Late Thursday, some of the entrants for Saturday’s cup races went through their final workouts.
Most of the trainers chose to work their horses into shape at their home tracks, and the horses that arrived early to Kentucky worked at nearby Keeneland to avoid the media rush.
Here are the latest works I have: David Junior (Classic) looked really hot (sweating) on the track Thursday despite freezing temperatures.
Street Sense (Juvenile) breezed 4 furlongs in 50.4. Satulagi (Juvenile Fillies) also breezed 4F in 50.3
Bernardini (Classic) looked like a pro as he galloped a mile after arriving on Wednesday from Belmont. Lawyer Ron (Classic) looked impressive, as he always does; now he has to prove himself with a new jock and trainer. He galloped about 7 furlongs. Invasor (Classic) galloped 1 3/8 miles, and trainer Kiran McLaughlin said, “He’s never looked better”.
Turf works: Hurricane Run (BC Turf) just about walked 3F in .44. Ouija Board (BC F&M Turf) went a slow 3F in 43.4.
