US Open Friday Betting Underdog Tennis Free Picks

by BetUS Staff

Flushing Meadow, New York – As the US Open betting approaches the weekend there has been no end to the thrills in tennis gambling – from surprise outcome, upsets and nigh upsets in the early stages. So as the tennis betting hamlet looks forward to some more tennis betting the question is whether the tournament will receive more bombshells or will order be slowly restored as the US Open moves towards the last 32 over the weekend and then the last 16 on Monday.

Here is a look at some of the action set to kick off Friday’s schedule of second round matchups at the US Open.

Tennis Betting Line Ivo Minar +160 Jarkko Nieminen -210

Tennis Betting Analysis: Bidding for a third round berth is No.81 Ivo Minar and No. 37 Jarkko Nieminen – a pair of players who have had a mediocre season this year. Nieminen ranks better than Minar and over his career he has had a measure of success at Grand Slams his best result a quarterfinal appearance at the US Open in 2005 and Wimbledon in 2006. In his last two US Opens, he was a first round casualty. On the other hand, Minar has never advanced past the second round of a Grand Slam event. In fact, he only reached the second round once before; in 2005 he reached the second round in Wimbledon (l to Federer).

Tennis Betting Verdict: This matchup is a derby. Either player has the opportunity to go into the third round. For Minar this would be a huge achievement having never gotten that far in a Grand Slam. Based on his US Open tune up he has a chance; he reached the R16 in New Haven. Nieminen is not in great form and his US Open series saw him crash out of the opening round of both the ATP Masters in Cincinnati and Canada – albeit he faced some stiff opponents in Gulbis and Berdych respectively. Nevertheless, his confidence seems low and while Minar is not a whole lot better off in that department, he has a shot here.

Tennis Free Picks: Minar +160 in four sets

Tennis Betting Line Guillermo Garcia Lopez +210 Andreas Seppi -325

Tennis Wagering Analysis: No.31 Andreas Seppi had a decent US Open series turnout. After crashing in the opening round of the Masters Series in Canada, he reached the R16 in the Cincy Masters and the quarterfinals in New Haven. He also competed for Italy at the Beijing Olympics but fell in the second round. Seppi’s best performance this year came on clay at the ATP Masters Series in Hamburg wherein he reached the semis. His best Grand Slam result was the R32 at Wimbledon.

No. 67 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is a tricky player. Predominantly known for his clay court game he had some notable results on hard courts earlier this year. He reached the quarters in Chennai and the R32 of the Australian Open and Wimbledon and the semis in San Jose.

Tennis Betting Verdict: While Seppi is the outright favourite, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez could be a tricky opponent for him. Both are clay courters and their style is similar. Taking this style of play on hard court almost gives either player a chance of advancing. If both players camp out behind the baseline, I expect this match to be a long drawn out contest.

Tennis Free Picks: Garcia-Lopez in five sets
