Doha, Qatar – The Sony Ericsson Championship year-end showdown is shaping up to be an exciting contest for sports bettors following tennis. As round robin betting action nears the end, i the white group, Jelena Jankovic and Vera Zvonareva have secured advancement in to the semis after they both recorded two matches and drew level on sets at 4-0.

Their contest, set for Friday November 7, will determine who finishes top of the group. BetUS Sportsbook is already taking action on this matchup so here is a look at the odds currently running in the tennis betting market.

Tennis Betting Line: Jelena Jankovic -325 Vera Zvonareva +210

Match Time: 09:00 AM Eastern Time, Friday November 7, 2008

Head-to-Head Analysis: Jelena Jankovic owns this head-to-head series 6-3. In 2008, Zvonareva and Jankovic met five times; Jankovic leads 4-1. Jankovic won their last three consecutive matches – Beijing, Stuttgart and Moscow. Zvonareva beat Jankovic in Charleston this year. Their matches have been competitive and hard fought victories.

Tennis Betting Analysis:

Jelena Jankovic -325 – Jankovic deserves to be the strong favourite in this match. After all, she has dominated their head-to-head series not only this year but also lifetime. Oh and lest we forget, she is an impressive 63-17 on the season and has won four titles, not to mention she is the current No.1 ranked player.

Jankovic last victory over Zvonareva was in Moscow where Zvonareva had home court edge. It could not have been easy for her to beat Zvonareva before her Russian fans in her stomping ground. Nevertheless, Jankovic was victorious and convincing in her triumph, taking the win 6-2, 6-4.

Vera Zvonareva +210 – Zvonareva has enjoyed a standout year. She won the bronze medal in Beijing and picked up two WTA titles. Her consistency this year has seen her tally an enviable 61 match wins and 21 losses. Currently she weighs in at No.9 in the world.

Tennis Betting Verdict: Zvonareva was the outside favourite to advance into the semis but after she got her Sony Ericsson bid off to a flying start, beating Ana Ivanovic and Svetlana Kuznetsova, she has earned her place in the final four. Having defied the odds in both her matches, her underdog odds in this one are worth the risk. True she has lost to Jankovic three times in a row this year, but the laws of average could be on her side and it just might be her turn to win one again. She has done so before so why not tomorrow. She has less pressure on her to orchestrate the upset than Jankovic has to win and prove herself as the No.1 player.
