2008 French Open Odds – Nadal Is Still the Man to Beat

Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

After selecting Serbian-born World No. 3 Novak Djokovic to win the 2008 Australian Open in the BetUS Locker Room way back in December of 2007 – and getting absolute perfection out of that selection in January of this year when Djokovic won his first grand slam title –while also predicting that World No. 1 Roger Federer would win only two grand slam titles this season - I am back to give the BetUS ATP tennis betting community another solid selection for the 2008 French Open – though I’ll admit right off the bat that my selection for the winner of this tournament isn’t nearly as dramatic as the first.

Here is a look at the respective ATP Tennis Odds on the top players at the 2008 French Open, followed by my brief analysis and selection on who will actually win.

Analysis: I won’t even bother to drag this pick out since everyone knows that World No. 2 Rafael Nadal is the clear-cut favorite to win this tournament. While I am picking ‘Rafa’ to win the whole thing, I also believe several other players will be big money-makers for BetUS tennis bettors, before eventually bowing out.

I’m think bettors will be looking at a semifinal quartet featuring Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer, who is also my dark horse player to win the entire tournament.

Mikhail Youzhny, Nikolai Davydenko and another player not on this list, Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, are also going to be money-makers for bettors in this tournament, with Tsonga actually having an outside chance to reach the semis.

In the end, I like the world’s top two players, Federer and Nadal to meet in the finals with ‘Rafa’ going on to win his fourth consecutive French Open title, the only grand slam title he may be capable of winning.
