London, England – On Sunday, Wimbledon takes a day off, giving the players a traditional day of rest, before the tennis betting markets pick up for Monday’s R16 tennis gambling action. In the top-half of the draw, through to the second week at Wimbledon is five-time defending champion Roger Federer, along with 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt. Also getting set to contest the fourth round is Fernando Verdaso, Marcos Baghdatis, Stanislas Wawrinka and Fernando Lopez. So with some exceptional matchups line-up for Monday, here are some tennis free picks to get you started betting on Wimbledon in the second week.
Tennis Betting Line: Federer vs. Hewitt
Tennis Betting Prediction: It may surprise some tennis-betting enthusiasts to know that during the junior careers and early days in ATP level play of both players it was Hewitt who had Federer’s number. It was also Hewitt, who became World No.1 first, and won Wimbledon first. Then Federer ascended and since then it was the Swiss dominating their matchups. Lifetime they have played 20 matches against each other with the Federer owing an 11-match winning streak against Hewitt. This is their first encounter this year. To be sure this will be an exciting match for many sports bettors to bet on. Hewitt would dearly love to find the form of days gone by that saw him beat Federer on numerous occasions. He has even hired Federer’s former coach Tony Roche. The reality is that Hewitt has not been successful in eleven attempts to figure the Federer dilemma. With a questionable hip and his grass court form far from the year that saw him win Wimbledon I still like Federer to come away with the victory.
Tennis Free Picks: Federer in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Ancic vs. Verdasco
Tennis Betting Prediction: Fernando Verdasco had an exceptional run into Wimbledon by beating Thomas Berdych in the third round he reaches the second week. While he has definitely improved this season and become a more consistent player, unfortunately I see his campaign coming to an end. Mario Ancic is simply too good a player overall and on grass he is lethal. He is the last player to beat Federer on grass. Today in the third round he delivered classy performance against David Ferrer, one of the most dogged players on the tour. He is all fired up and with the momentum going his way I feel he will be too much for the Spaniard.
Tennis Free Picks: Ancic in straight sets
