Gstaad, Switzerland – Online Tennis betting at BetUS Sportsbook is underway for the Allianz Swiss Open. Heading up the stellar line-up in Gstaad is homeboy Stanislas Wawrinka, along with second seed Paul-Henri Mathieu, third seed Mikhail Youzhny and fourth seed Ivo Karlovic amongst several others. Here are some tennis free picks on the second round tennis gambling action scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Allianz Swiss Open.

Tennis Betting Line: Stanislas Wawrinka vs. Robin Roshardt

Tennis Prediction: No. 10 Stanislas Wawrinka enters the Allianz Swiss Open as the top seed. The 23-year-old Swiss player is the second top ranked Swiss after Roger Federer. 2008 has been a breakout year for the promising Wawrinka. His best result came at the ATP Masters Series in Rome, wherein he reached the final round (l. to Novak Djokovic).

In this all-Swiss affair, he comes up against a wild card entrant in compatriot Robin Roshardt. Roshardt is in this tournament for one reason and one reason only – he earned a wild card because he is Swiss. However, the No.588 Roshardt reached the second round – albeit defeating another Swiss wild card Stephane Bohli. Undoubtedly, Wawrinka is the better player of the two. He should be a steep favourite for the win and rightly so.

Tennis Free Picks: Wawrinka in straight sets

Tennis Betting Line: Kristof Vliegen vs. Guillermo Canas

Tennis Prediction: Guillermo Canas is a clay-court specialist who has made a career on the red stuff, having posted his best results on this surface. A dogged returner he is the quintessential defender, hugging the baseline, tracking down balls relentlessly until his opponent errs. Canas enters this matchup with a 3-0 head-to-head record. Although Canas is a veteran player at 31-years-old, you have to like his chances against Vliegen, as the younger Belgian has never beaten him and especially on this surface.

Tennis Free Picks: Canas in three sets

Tennis Betting Line: Ivo Karlovic vs. Victor Hanescu

Tennis Prediction: Ivo Karlovic has not had the season he enjoyed last year. However, he returns to the red stuff after a short stint on grass that earned him his first ATP title for the 2008 season. He successfully defended his Nottingham title earlier in June for a third consecutive year, but followed up with a first round exit in Wimbledon – his fourth consecutive first round exit at the All England Club. Karlovic brings a 20-16 mark into the second round and a 1-0 lifetime record against Victor Hanescu of Romania. In spite of posting mixed results in tournament action this year, Karlovic is still the better play.

Tennis Free Picks: Karlovic in three sets

Tennis Betting Line: Jeremy Chardy vs. Dominik Meffert

Tennis Prediction: Jeremy Chardy impressed at the French Open this year, soaring to the R16 after upset David Nalbandian in the second round. Although he enjoyed encouraging results at the French Open, he had to qualify for the Allianz Swiss Open. With more clay-court matches under his belt than some of the other players returning from the lawns of Wimbledon, Chardy has a slight edge and may very well make another exciting push. Next up for Chardy though is another qualifier in Dominik Meffert, but with few encouraging results in clay court tournaments on both the ATP and Challenger circuit, the surface edge goes to Chardy.

Tennis Free Picks: Chardy in straight sets
