Somehow it seems fitting that Super Bowl XLIV will feature perhaps the two best offenses and quarterbacks in the National Football League. The Indianapolis Colts made the big second-half comeback against the New York Jets and paved the way to Miami for the big game on February 7.

They are installed a 5.5-point favorites in the Super Bowl lines over the New Orleans Saints, who defeated the Minnesota Vikings in dramatic fashion, and are in the unique position of carrying the pride of a recovering city on their shoulders.

This matchup is not without a certain degree of irony. As the Saints make the trip to their first Super Bowl appearance, with the opportunity to raise the spirits of a fan base that has endured much in the way of tragedy in recent years, they find one of the Crescent City's favorite sons standing in their way. Peyton Manning, the four-time league MVP, leads the Colts onto the field in their attempt to capture a second world title in a period of four years. His team is -210 in the Super Bowl odds to win the game outright, with the Saints, riding on the wing of Pro Bowl signal-caller Drew Brees, posted at +170 for a straight-up win.

The total (over/under) on the game is a robust 56 points, according to the oddsmakers. Considering the collection of offensive weapons available to both teams, that is a number that would appear easily attainable, given the right playing conditions (which the Colts didn't experience in their last Super Bowl encounter).
