Betting On Miss Universe - Will We See A Pageant Shocker?

by D.S Williamson

Okay, there’s a reason that BetUS Sportsbook has posted online betting odds on the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant. First of all, if it’s a competition then online sportsbook bettors should take a look at it. Legitimate sports betting odds on a price play is usually very hard to come by. If a sportsbook betting fan finds a nice price play, then he has to jump on it. Not literally, of course, but figuratively.

It doesn’t matter if the online wager is on a horse, baseball team, football team, or a pretty girl from Bolivia who looks good in a swimsuit.

Second, all of us online gambling fanatics could do worse then to throw some money at this beauty pageant. I mean…have you seen these women? Seriously. I mean, I know I could do worse then waste a few hours waiting for one of these women to get a tiara and a bouquet of flowers. Hey, if I could make some money while my eyes are glued to the television screen, then more power to me, right? It’s not like I’m going to stop looking at these ladies.

Okay, enough of that. The goal, as always, is still to make money. I’ve highlighted the six lovely women that I believe could win this thing. Every single one of these ladies is going off at nice odds, so you’re getting value on your online bet no matter what.

Let’s get to it!

Miss Universe Pageant Analysis

1. Miss Puerto Rico - - BetUS odds 9/1 - - Miss implies that they aren’t married. So, I got a shot right? Yeah, sure. Anyhow, Miss Puerto Rico has that perfect blend of class and looks and the odds on her say that she has a legitimate shot. She’s third choice in the BetUS online sportsbook. That tells me that she isn’t the favorite, which would be a bad thing in this competition, and she isn’t the longest shot on the board. She’s a smart one, Miss Puerto Rico. She actually used the word “canalize” in an interview. That’s enough for the victory right there!

2. Miss Venezuela - - BetUS odds 5/1 - - Sure, she’s the chalk, but this thing could get political and what would stick it to the U.S. more then taking Hugo Chavez’s gal? The U.S. doesn’t have a whole lot of friends out there right now and even though this is Miss Universe, make no mistake, it’s a U.S. production. My gut tells me that even though she’s not the prettiest and I doubt she could ever come up with a word like “canalize” in her life, she has a legit shot to win. Anything less then a top three placing would really surprise me.

3. Dominican Republic - - BetUS odds 18 to 1 - - Yes, it’s true. I got a thing for them Latin women. Three in a row. Hey, what can I say? She’s got a natural look to her and the fact that her national costume is a baseball uniform while everybody else is wearing something that makes them look like I’m staring at an androgynous peacock while on acid goes straight to my heart. I’m going to have some money on this one for sure.

4. Miss Vietnam - - BetUS odds 16 to 1 - - She looks at the camera as if she can go from petite pretty to tear off my clothes and get to work in a matter of seconds. That’s a skill, right? She also looks downright classy in an evening gown. Her interests are swimming, traveling and singing. She can sing. It might not be enough to take her over the top but hey it’s better then not being able to do anything. Also, she likes swimming. The judges probably like swimming as well. Who doesn’t? I see a serious connection there.

5. Curacao - - BetUS odds 250 to 1 - - She probably has no chance, but this lady is my personal favorite. Wow. They don’t get any prettier then her. I mean, she’s amazing. If this were the Miss Why Aren’t You In Playboy Contest she’d win for sure. I like a gal who isn’t afraid to let her hair stay curly and wild and the smile is - - well, I’m a sucker for a nice smile. Her career ambitions are pretty impressive. She wants to be a human resource manager at a mid-size company. She did say mid-size. Her lack of ambition could really turn some guys off. I find it rather alluring. Stay home and look pretty baby!

6. Bolivia - - BetUS odds 125 to 1 - - The word of the day is body. Body, body, body. That’s enough for a wager. Not a great chance to win. So, don’t expect to collect but some of us males won’t even be looking at another woman all night. Yes…body, body, body. Oh, yeah, in her interview she said that she wanted to learn about “life’s good and evil” because she knows that it will “help her all her life”. That’s awesome. I mean her hearts really in the right place. She’s got her priorities straight. Life always comes down to good and evil, my girl. Yes, good and evil.
