High-Flying Tottenham Hotspurs have high Premiership ambitions in sight

by Nila Amerova

Having lost only one match since mid-October, Tottenham Hotspurs are surprisingly boasting one of the best Premiership forms currently and will be looking to pick up an additional three points against Everton on Sunday. In their last six matches, Tottenham picked up 13 points – the same amount of points as the top of the table duo of Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC. Their new and improved form has seen the sports betting marketplace shift in their favour and sports bettors’ faith in them increase.

However, the Spurs are still, in spite of their recent turn for the better, too close to the bottom of the table for sports bettors’ comfort, which makes this upcoming fixture against Everton an even more vital one.

Everton resides in the top ten Premiership oasis and they have picked up almost just as many points as Tottenham has over their last six. Having gone 3-2-1 in their last six they picked up 11 points. However, their most recent result was a 1:0 loss at Wigan – their first this month – and in the last two fixtures, they only earned the lone point – on a draw against Middlesbrough at home.

Soccer Betting Analysis:

Tottenham Hotspurs -105: As the Spurs have looked the most convincing of late, they are the favourites to win at home. They were buoyed last week by a memorable performance from winger Aaron Lennon - one that has led manager Redknapp to call for his recall to the national side. They have gone from strength to strength of late and they look compelling to climb the Premiership table. Frankly, they are a much better side than belied by their ranking.

Everton +325: Everton’s three straight league wins ended with the draw against Middlesbrough and they did not bounce back as they lost to Wigan. Now with only a point to show for their last two Premiership outings they are in danger of slipping further in the rankings as ten teams are divided by just four points in the table. This is a critical match – a potential table-changer – so they will be desperate to win at Tottenham.

Soccer Betting Verdict: Spurs are the more compelling of the two but their odds are hardly exciting for sports bettors to bet on – at -105, there is small value to be had. Everton FC’s price tag of +325 is more attractive of course, but they are in a spot of trouble and these days do not look as good as they did at the start of the season so I cannot wholeheartedly recommend taking them on the money line either. If they find motivation from their previous two mishaps though, they might scrape by with the draw at +220; then again the Spurs are really motivated for the win and are finally living up to the potential they promised at the start of the season, so we come back full circle.
