Columbus Crew Limps into MLS Playoffs
by Robby Maddux

The Columbus Crew heads into the MLS playoffs on a losing note, having lost consecutive games to finish the regular season. The most recent loss came at home, snapping a 22- game home winning streak. However, the 1-0 loss to Seattle on Sunday still gives Columbus home-field advantage.
Columbus has lost three of its last four games, scoring only one goal this month, which came on a fluke free kick. Sports betting fans in Buckeye nation must be concerned about the Crew's lackadaisical offense heading into postseason play.
Columbus managed to reach the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season, using a combination of veteran players along with reserves. Last season, the Crew entered the playoffs on a much higher note as the Eastern Conference Champions and the number 1 seed. This postseason will be different for the Crew than 2008, as they enter postseason on a lowly offensive swing.
Columbus will open the playoffs against Seattle on Saturday at 6 PM EST. The Crew's first game will be played at Rio Tinto Stadium. For those who bet on soccer, expect a hard fought contest. Both clubs stack up evenly and should be a low scoring game. Seattle will win this contest, simply due to Columbus' stagnant offense.
For the soccer betting crowd, this matchup should be an easy money-maker if you select Seattle and or the under. This will be a defensive contest with Seattle having the edge.
