by Nila Amerova

Match day 2 of Champions League action is approaching and soccer betting lines for all the matches scheduled between September 30 – October 1, 2008 are in full swing at BetUS Sportsbook.

In Group A, two losers after match day 1, Bordeaux and Roma, will be looking for redemption on Wednesday October 1, 2008. What lies ahead for the unlucky pair is a match against each other, which means the run of bad luck could end for one, while continue for the other; that is unless they grind out the draw of course.

So which side will get their campaign back on track? Here is a look at the soccer betting lines for the Group A match between Girondins de Bordeaux and As Roma.

Soccer Betting Analysis

Girondins de Bordeaux (+200) – Girondins de Bordeaux received a veritable spanking on Match day 1 when Chelsea FC announced their Champions League intentions with a 4:0 drumming of the French side. In an entirely one-sided match at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Chelsea overwhelmed the visitors. Bordeaux had some chances but wasted them, especially from set pieces. Now they head home to Stade Chaban Delmas where they will hope to salvage their UEFA Champions League bid.

AS Roma (+125) –They started their Champions League bid well enough against CFR Cluj – the Champions League debutantes – pulling ahead early with a Christian Panucci goal. But if they thought the 1:0 lead was a prelude to a clear-cut victory they were left stunned by a double blow from gifted Argentinean midfielder Juan Culio who levelled the score in the first half and pushed the Romanian side ahead four minutes into the second half.

Soccer Betting Verdict: There is no doubt AS Roma should have won their opening match at home. Complacency led them awry. They will not make the same mistake again. On the other hand, Bordeaux knew they had a tough opening match against 2007/08 Champions League runners-up Chelsea FC. Their only hope would have been to lose with some dignity but Chelsea had another thing in mind when they handed them a sizeable defeat.

Roma is visiting Bordeaux. Roma will be chaffing with their loss and keen to restore faith in their UEFA Champions League bid. Bordeaux has to be utterly demoralised after their spanking in London. They clearly did not have what it took to hang out with the big boys. They have a slight edge playing before a partisan crowd but Roma is a quality team and as the Champions League final is set to take place in Rome this season they have the added motivation to carve out a victory in Bordeaux.
