Can Everton end Middlesbrough run of luck in Premiership action?

by Nila Amerova

While most of the weekend programme in soccer betting falls on Saturday, a couple of quality matches are set for Sunday. So for all you footballers at BetUS, here is a look at Sunday’s Premiership action, complete with soccer betting lines and picks.

The first Sunday Premiership fixture is between Everton FC and Middlesbrough FC. Middlesbrough FC is a bit of an anomaly. They are not particularly great this season but for some reason, they currently occupy a berth amongst the league’s top ten. Somehow, they managed to pick up eight points in their last four matches to climb in the standings despite being the worse team on the pitch.

Meanwhile, hosts Everton have had some recent successes that is considered by contrast well deserved, so much so the bookies give Everton the favourite nod.

Soccer Betting Line:

Everton FC -½ -110 -115 2½ O Ev U -120 1½ O Ev U -130 Draw +240

Middlesbrough FC +½ -110 +325 2½ O Ev U -120 1 O Ev U -130 Draw +240

Match Time: 08:30 AM Eastern Time, Sunday November 16, 2008

Soccer Betting Analysis: Seventh ranked Everton hosts Middlesbrough (eighth in the league) on Sunday in what is surely going to be a derby. This is an important match for both sides: Everton will want to maintain or move up further in the standings, while Middlesbrough will try to catch up. Both sides are coming off victories in their last Premiership instalment that saw them reach the top part of the League table so they will be in high spirits.

Everton FC (-115) – Everton fancy their chances as they are on a four match undefeated streak: a draw and three-back-to-back wins. They are the home team and they have a decent record at home. Their last five at home saw them defeated once only; they drew the other three and won once.

Middlesbrough (+325) – Mbrough fancies its chances as well despite entering this match as the huge underdog. They are travelling from Aston Villa where they masterminded the huge 2:1 win on the away. Since suffering a humiliating 5:0 defeat at home when visiting Chelsea FC used them as target practice Mbrough has gone undefeated in four.

Soccer Betting Verdict: Mbrough is a lucky team for though they picked up eight points in their last four matches they were not the better team in either match. They profited from opponents mistakes. So the question is whether their luck will run out against Everton. Given Everton is also in high spirits and on a bit of a winning streak, the home win would be a good play. Although, I have to admit, this match has the look of a draw about it. So maybe Middlesbrough run of luck is going to continue.
