Sunday afternoons match-up between the (5-5) Georgia Force and (6-4) New York Dragons gives AFL bettors the opportunity to take part in a crucial National Conference clash that holds enormous playoff ramifications. Bookies were hit hard last Monday night when the Georgia Force scored 22-unanswered points to upend the Philadelphia Soul by a 63-62 final count. Georgia closed a 3.5-point underdog after opening up closer to six, and the 125 combined points soared ‘over’ the closing ‘total’ of 116.5. The win allowed the Force claw its way back to .500, and they’ve rattled off two pointspread victories in a row the last two weeks. However, the Force hasn’t been too kind to their AFL backers by compiling a losing 4-6 ATS mark on the year, and they’re just 1-3 SU and ATS on the road this year. New York made the long trip out west last week, but the mileage they racked up was well worth it after they upended the hosting LA Avengers by a 52-48 final count. However, the four-point win snapped their five-game winning streak ATS by just a single point. NY is 4-1 SU and a perfect 5-0 ATS in the Nassau Coliseum this season.
The Georgia Force finds themselves two games in back of both New Orleans and Orlando in the National Conference’s Southern Division. As for the Dragons, they sit three-games in back of both Philadelphia and Dallas for the top spot in the Southern Division. This AFL Week 12 match-up between the Force and Dragons will be the sixth time these franchises have met. They last met back in May of 2006 and the Force came away victorious in the 72-69 road win and cover. The win was their only in the series, as the Dragons are a solid 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in the all time series.
Oddsmakers installed the Dragons 2-points better than the visiting Force with the ‘total’ set at 108. BetUS.com offers all the Week 12 Arena Football lines, which includes this crucial National Conference clash.
This will be just the first time this season the Dragons have been installed a favorite of three points or less, and they’ve managed 3-4 SU and ATS marks playing that role the L/3 seasons. They’re also a very poor 5-9 SU and 3-10-1 ATS after playing a game on a Saturday the week before. Georgia is 1-1 SU and ATS as a road underdog of three points or less this season, but they’re 3-1 SU and ATS under those parameters the last three seasons. They’re also 6-3 SU in Weeks 10-13 the L/3 years under Head coach Doug Plank and his staff who know how to get their squad to bring its “A” game in the final stages of the regular season. Expect a white knuckled brawl in this one as each club looks to take one step closer towards qualifying for the playoffs out of the highly competitive National Conference.
