2010 Olympics - Team Canada sends a message to Dany Heatley
by Tim Furious

See? This is what happens when you get all pissy as a hockey player. Not only do you piss off your GM, get the “cancer” tag immediately and alienate your teammates, you ALSO get the middle finger from your own country. Dany Heatley, the “Most Hated Man In Hockey” is being told by Canada’s Olympic Hockey officials that they want him to clear up his trade situation before even thinking about suiting up for Team Canada, which is favored to win the Gold Medal at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C. next year.
I think I speak for every hockey fan out there when I say, “BWAAHAHAHAHA! Suck it, Heatley!”
Dany Heatley led the Ottawa Senators with 39 goals last season, accompanied by 33 assists while playing on one of the best lines in the NHL, alongside fellow Canadian Jason Spezza, and Daniel Alfredsson. However, after becoming disgruntled with management, Heatley demanded to be traded.
GM Bryan Allen of Ottawa did his best to accommodate him, arranging a trade that would benefit the Sens and Edmonton Oilers. But then Heatley enacted his “no-trade” clause and kyboshed the deal. He’s gone from one of the most feared scorers, to one of its villains in the span of an off-season. We didn’t even hate him this much when he accidentally killed teammate Dany Snyder driving recklessly in Atlanta.
Which reminds me, this jack-hole is lucky to be playing in the NHL at all. Why is he parading around trying to be a diva when people are desperately trying to hang on to their day jobs? What is wrong with this clown?
Well enough is wrong with him that Team Canada’s reps, like Steve Yzerman, aren’t having it. They’re telling Heatley to shape up, or risk getting cut from his national team. Simply put, they don’t want his trade discussions to be an ongoing fiasco that will distract the greater good of Team Canada. Do you blame them?
Canadians are finally doing something right (the people of Canada, not the disaster that is the Montreal Canadiens). They’re telling a malcontent to clean up his act or take a hike. If only the NFL could learn from Team Canada’s harsh lessons.
