NHL Tuesday Hockey Betting – Chicago Blackhawks at Phoenix Coyotes
by Mike Rose

The Chicago Blackhawks (7-4-5) will look to snap its current three game sports betting losing streak Tuesday night when they head to the dome in the desert to take on the Phoenix Coyotes (8-8-0). After a five game home stand, this game marks the first of six straight road games for the Blackhawks and Chicago will not be back in the United Center until December 1st. Phoenix has dropped its last two games for NHL bettors and will be looking for only its second win against the red and black in its last seven tries.
Sunday night, the Blackhawks suffered their first home loss in regulation this pro hockey wagering season, a 6-5 loss to San Jose. Fans in Chicago, however, were at least treated to an offensive display with 11 goals (six of them on the power play). The heroes of the game for the Blackhawks were not the usual suspects of Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp, but RW Kris Versteeg who tallied two goals and defensemen Brian Campbell and Cam Barker who both scored a goal and provided two assists for Blackhawks bettors.
Against San Jose, stopping the power play proved to be the death knell for the Blackhawks as the Sharks converted on four of six power play opportunities to help send the game over the ‘total’ per the closing NHL gambling lines. Goaltender Cristobal Huet didn’t look sharp in the loss stopping just 25 of the Sharks 31 shots to raise his GAA to 2.95 this season with a .900 save percentage.
RW Shane Doan has been very impressive this year with the Coyotes and is leading the team with 17 points (9 G, 8 A) through 16 games. In its last game, a 3-2 NHL wagering loss to the Dallas Stars, Doan got an assist on Phoenix’s first goal but that was all he could manage during his time on the ice. Other than Doan though, the Coyotes haven’t had much offense, which has led to the under going 9-5-2 by the pro hockey odds in Coyotes games this season.
Goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov could only stop 16 of the Stars 19 shots in the game, leading to the Coyotes loss despite outshooting their opponent by eight. Recently, Bryzgalov has not been up to his usual great form for Coyotes bettors, allowing 11 goals in the last four games and he’s yet to register a shutout this season.
NHL betting trends to be aware of for this game include that the Blackhawks are 22-52-3 in their last 77 games against Pacific Division teams, Phoenix is 7-15 against conference opponents so far this season, and the ‘under’ has gone 21-7-2 per the NHL odds in these teams’ last 30 meetings.
NHL lines for this game have the Coyotes as a slight -110 moneyline home favorite with a ‘total’ of 5.5 goals.
