NHL Betting Games of the Night - Crosby-Ovechkin Parlay!
by Corey E

NHL betting sharps and sports betting enthusiasts can finally look at the hockey odds and see betting lines that make sense in the Eastern Conference, as both Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin have returned to their respective squads. On Thursday, one of the NHL’s busiest days, both superstars will be in action and looking to turn their teams around in a hurry.
With these snipers back in the lineup, it’s a great bet to take the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals on a two-game parlay. Let’s take a look at their respective matchups!
Carolina Hurricanes vs. Washington Capitals
Life without Alexander Ovechkin hasn’t been that difficult for the Capitals, thanks to the emergence of Alexander Semin, who has flown out of the gate with seventeen points. After a fairly lackluster year, Semin seems to be living up to his potential, and has avoided silly penalties thus far in 2008 as well. Ovechkin returned last night against the Senators in a losing effort, registering four shots in more than 21 minutes of ice time.
Do you really expect Ovie to remain quiet for more than one game? We certainly don’t. What makes this game even jucier is the fact that since the Caps trail the Hurricanes in the Southeast division standings, they may in fact be home underdogs. Washington humbled Carolina in their last meeting, a 5-2 victory, and should put some serious points on the board once again in this one. As with every game in the Northeast, bet the over—but take the Capitals on the moneyline as part of this parlay.
Edmonton Oilers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Just as the Penguins were the “young and exciting team” in 2006, the Edmonton Oilers are exactly that in 2008-09. The Oil have started the season in record fashion, despite a shaky three goaltender system that was expected to be their Achilles Heel. However, Edmonton will be entering a tough building when they travel to Pittsburgh to face the defending Eastern Conference champions.
Sidney Crosby’s return helps even out the Penguins’ offensive production, pushing Evgeni Malkin to the second line and Jordin Staal to the third, reuniting a fearsome trio up the middle. Marc-Andre Fleury will almost surely get the start in this one, however, as always, it’s possible that backups Jeff Deslauriers or Dwayne Rolosen may get the nod for the Oilers. Backup goaltenders aren’t a great idea against the most potent offense in the NHL—bet on the Penguins!
Head over to the BetUS.com main page and lay it down on this two-game parlay—at the very least, it gives you a reason to watch the NHL’s two most exciting players, and have a vested interest in their performance!
