NHL Betting - Blackhawks to Buck the trend
by Corey E

As NHL sports betting sharps know, the Chicago Blackhawks are a force to be reckoned with at home. The youthful bunch from the Windy City are undefeated in regulation at the United Center this season, but struggled early on in the year when on the road.
But with the hiring of new head coach Joel Quenneville that seems to be changing as well. The ‘Hawks picked up a victory on the road in Phoenix on Tuesday night, and will travel to the next desert to meet the Dallas Stars on Thursday.
Things haven’t been quite as rosy for the Dallas Stars this season, after appearing as one of the favorites on pre-season NHL betting lines in the summer. To sum up the Stars’ struggles: Mike Modano has finally cooled off, and Marty Turco hasn’t been bailing the team out this year.
Dallas is dead-last in the tough Pacific Division, and is allowing nearly four goals per game. This isn’t exactly a very favorable betting matchup for Stars supporters, who must contend with one of the most explosive offenses in the league in the Blackhawks. Chicago is second in the NHL in goals per game, and will surely add to that total in this one.
Some ‘Hawks trends to consider:
• Chicago is 5-2 in its last 7 vs. Western Conference
• Chicago is 5-2 in its last 7 vs. a team with a losing record
• Chicago is 54-114-8 in its last 176 games playing on one days rest
• Chicago is 23-52-3 in its last 78 vs. Pacific Division opponents
• Chicago is 11-26 in its last 37 Thursday games
• Chicago is 47-112-2 in its last 161 road games
With Patrick Kane looking like a perennial All-Star, and linemate Kris Versteeg seemingly headed for the Blackhawks’ second consecutive Calder Trophy, it is quite difficult to find a reason to bet against the Indian head in this one. On top of that, they can do no wrong with either goaltender—Cristobal Huet or the rejuvenated Nikolai Khabibulin—and that is a whack more stability than what Turco is giving the Stars right now.
