Once upon a time every knew about the feared top line of Ottawa. Now that they can’t play defense, have no other viable scoring threats and are a blithering mess overall, they’re no longer a threat. New York is four lines deep and has one of the best goal tenders in the league. Don’t expect an upset, and take the road dogs for profits that are as easy to come by as if you’re a hot blonde, down on your luck with a pretty mouth.

Columbus Blue Jackets +110 over ATLANTA THRASHERS

The Thrashers dropped two predictable losses to, while Columbus got blown up by the lowly Oilers the other night. So why am I backing the Blue Jackets? Like it or not, they’re not going to take a home loss to one of the most unproductive teams lightly. They’re usually a poor road play, but I like them this weekend. At home or on the road, the Thrashers are a horrific team riding a two game slump that will carry through the weekend.

TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS +110 over Chicago Blackhawks

I usually never trust young teams on the road. In an Original 6 Matchup to forget, the Leafs will defend the house against a riley upstart Chicago squad. The Leafs are coming off two tight losses to Vancouver and Boston and have had the entire week off to prepare for this matchup. Since hitting the road on Tuesday, Chicago is 0-2 SU. You’re welcome.

Detroit Red Wings -130 over CALGARY FLAMES

Yes I know Detroit is coming off a win in Edmonton and Calgary is licking their chops to have at the Stanley Cup Champs. The reason I’m taking Detroit in this one is simple. They’re 7-3 SU in their last 10 games against the Flames. Detroit is on a four game winning streak, while Calgary is coming off a trip to Denver where they barely edged the Avalanche. Bet on history and the Red Wings prevailing.

SAN JOSE SHARKS over Washington Capitals

There’s no line on the late game for Saturday night, but while you’re out drinking your life away you might as well get some nice returns on this easy call. Washington has lost to San Jose ten straight times. While the Capitals convinced the world to take them seriously with a 6-4 obliteration of Anaheim at The Pond, the loss to LA was a dead giveaway as a letdown game. The fatigue of travelling is going to set in as San Jose beats up on a weary Washington squad lacking two of its biggest and brightest. Until Semin and Fedorov return to action, be careful when betting on Washington Capitals’ hockey.
