Dallas Stars (45-30-7) vs. Detroit Red Wings (54-21-7)
Saturday, May 17th --- Joe Louis Arena, Detroit --- 1:30pm EST
Series: Det 3-1
NHL Betting Line: Detroit -270
Dallas is one of the best teams in the NHL, and they’re massive underdogs in tonight’s sports betting contest. You really have to hand it to them in Game 4. They got everything they needed from Brendan Morrow, perhaps the best captain in the entire league. Heart, scoring, fury, great hockey hair…he’s the total package.
But even Morrow’s gumption won’t help the Stars get over this 3-1 deficit. Dallas is 2-5 SU in their last 7 games and 1-6 SU in their last 7 games on the road in Detroit. They’re 2.96 goals against average is outstanding, but it’s not going to be enough against Detroit.
Pittsburgh even has to wonder if it can break the fearsome blue line of Detroit, which boasts Rafalski, Lidstrom and Kronwall. Chris Osgood was exposed in Game 4 (slightly) because he really isn’t as good as Detroit’s 2.24 goals against average suggests. The Penguins will snap him in half eventually, while Dallas will do its best.
Detroit is unbeatable at home. I’m serious. They’re undefeated in their last 5 games at home, while their most recent home loss against Nashville can squarely be placed on Hasek’s aging shoulders (and his arthritic hips). Bet on Detroit safely in the UNDER as they crush Dallas who will build on this year’s success heading in to next season.
This is Detroit’s league to lose until further notice.
