Super Bowl Picks - It's in the Cards for Arizona

Online sports betting enthusiasts and BetUS Sportsbook customers will get to enjoy the once-a-year opportunity to bet on the Super Bowl. Considering the pre-season Super Bowl odds, anyone who predicted the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals to meet up in the finals is probably a very wealthy bettor at this point.

Super Bowl bettors have seen their fair share of Cinderalla participants over the years, from the Chargers, to the Titans, even the Falcons. However, as sports betting sharps know, the Arizona Cardinals of 2009 are one of the most dangerous teams offensively that the big game has ever seen. No, these aren't Joe Montana's 49ers, but Arizona packs a mean punch, specifically through the air. Arguably, the Cardinals have the two most athletically gifted receivers in all of professional football right now—Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. If you can overlook Boldin's on and off-field troubles, and trust his natural abilities, you will see that the Steelers secondary is going to have their hands full on Sunday.

While the Steelers may not have been favored to make it to the Super Bowl, it is certainly not shocking either, and thus they are favored by 6.5 points on the Super Bowl line. Pittsburgh employs a throwback brand of smashmouth football, made famous by Bill Cowher, Jarome Bettis, and the Steelers crew from earlier in the decade. New head coach Mike Tomlin has carried the torch, and has made sure that the trademark 'Steel Curtain' defense is every bit as imposing as ever. The Steelers allowed an average of just 44 yards on the ground throughout the year.

Luckily for the Cardinals, even though the Steelers' run defense is virtually impenetrable, they don't run the ball all that well anyways! The Cardinals rushing attack is better suited for short yardage situations and red zone opportunities. Veteran Edgerrin James and rookie Tim Hightower have been reasonable, but not outstanding, this season. Neither man is particularly fast as far as running backs go, making the running game a mismatch.

That breaks this game down to one thing: The Cardinals passing game against the Steelers secondary. Is Troy Polamalu capable of handling Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin? Can the Steelers pash rush throw a wily veteran like Kurt Warner off his game completely? The answer to both is probably not! Warner is incredibly resilient, and what he's lost in mobility over the years, arguably he has gained in arm strength and savvy, which is all he needs to put the ball in the air. Even Polamalu cannot cover Fitzgerald one on one, and quite simply—if the ball is thrown up, Fitz is going to catch it!

If you believe in miracles, check out the Super Bowl line, and the superbowl odds, and bet on the Arizona Cardinals at +7! If you're not so sure, you can tease the line all the way up to +21.5 for a payout at -650. Not great value, but a sure thing—there is no way the Cardinals lose this game by more than 21 points! In fact, they probably won't lose at all...
