Super Bowl 44 Expert Pick
by Sean Rowsome

The money is once again flowing and the Indianapolis Colts are the favorites heading into Super Bowl 44 in Miami Florida on February 7th. I’m sure that you have already been asked - Who is your Super Bowl 44 Pick?
Based on the oddsmakers lines and the public sentiment, most answers to the question seem to be the Indianapolis Colts. The Big Game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints figures to be one of the toughest Super Bowl games to handicap in many years. There is not much to choose between both of the combatants.
Both of the combatants enter Super Bowl 44 having taken similar paths to get to the Big Game. Both threatened to finish undefeated in the regular season, only to stumble at the end and settle for a number one seed. Both had first round byes and emotional second round games. Both teams are anchored by All-World Quarterbacks and enjoy a chemistry that is far too uncommon among NFL teams. So how then, is one able to make their Super Bowl 44 pick?
The Game will likely be won by the team that is able to exploit their combatant’s weaknesses. In the Colts case, their weakness is the lack of a trustworthy running game. Joseph Addai and Donald brown have certainly had their moments during the season but have failed to become a consistent part of the Indianapolis Offense.
This inconsistency has forced the Colts to be a one-dimensional team. As always, victory will be up to Peyton Manning and his ability to get the ball to his receivers. This makes the Colts a one-dimensional team and one that will be vulnerable to the genius mind of New Orleans’ Defensive Coordinator Greg Williams. An extra week off to prepare for Peyton and gang could be all that the Saints need to develop a game plan to neutralize the Colts passing attack.
On the flip side, the New Orleans Saints do have a good running game with a healthy Pierre Thomas complimented by scat-back Reggie Bush and power back Mike Bell. The running game will act to keep the Colts Defensive front guessing, it will afford Drew Brees some extra time in the pocket, it will be a factor in the all-important time of possession battle and it will gain its share of yards and the occasional score.
Simply put, the Saints run the ball better than the Colts and as we all know, the secret to a successful NFL team is a good running game. For that reason alone, m y Super Bowl 44 Pick is the New Orleans Saints.
