The sudden rise of the Giants came and went, and now Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin are staring at the unthinkable: a battle for a wildcard spot. The Giants were supposed to reign supreme in the NFC, but the loss to New Orleans completely derailed this team, and now with a loss to Philadelphia the Giants are going to host another team trying to prove themselves to the betting detractors out there.
It’s not like San Diego has a lot to brag about. They may have the 10th ranked offense in the league, averaging 26.4 points, but the defense is getting mauled by strong offenses. The Chargers allow 21.0 points per game and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games. On top of that, they’ll have to play in a cold weather city and the temperature on the Eastern Seaboard has dropped dramatically as if Mother Nature is PMSing or something.
The New York Giants have taken a turn for the worse, losing three straight games and watching their points against average balloon up to 22.9 points allowed. Now sitting at an ugly 2-3-1 ATS at home, the Giants will host the San Diego Chargers who are bringing a 3-7 ATS record on the road with them.
San Diego Chargers (4-3) vs. New York Giants (5-3)

NFL Betting Line: NYG -4.5 (47.5)
The Giants aren’t looking very sharp right now, and at least San Diego is cruising on a two-game winning streak. I lobby for the Giants at home, but the Chargers have humungous receivers who can grab anything that Rivers tosses out there. Sure, the running-game is entrenched in a struggle between Tomlinson and Sproles but that hasn’t stopped them from getting in the endzone when they need to.
I can’t encourage Giants betting right now. I simply can’t. Three losses to playoff contenders from Philly, Arizona and The Big Easy haven’t quelled any worries that the Giants are generating. Get off the betting bandwagon now until further notice.
