NFL Week Two Betting - New Orleans Saints at Washington Redskins
by Charles Jay

The Washington Redskins (0-1 SU & ATS) had a hard time getting things going with their new West Coast offense in the season opener. On Sunday they will try to straighten things out as they play host tot he New Orleans Saints (1-0 SU & ATS) in an NFL contest that is set to get underway at 1 PM ET at FedEx Field (natural turf) in Landover, MD.
Sunday, September 14
BetUS NFL betting odds: Pick'em (-110 each way), Total 41.5
NOTABLE STAT: Redskins had 209 yards of offense against Giants in Week 1
KEY NFL BETTING TREND: Saints have played six straight games over the total
In the BetUS NFL football betting odds, the game is listed as a pick'em contest (lay -110 each way), with a posted total of 41.5 points.
Here are some NFL football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* NO has played its last six games OVER the total
* NO has won and covered four of its last six road games
* NO has played five of its last seven road games OVER the total
* WASH has won and covered four of its last six games
* WASH has played eight of its last 12 home games UNDER the total
Also...
* WASH has won nine of the last 12 meetings SU
* Four of the last five meetings have gone OVER the total
The Redskins' debut effort against the Giants was kind of ugly, from an offensive standpoint. Washington, coming out with the West Coast attack for the first time in a regular season game, could register only 209 yards of total offense, and it still looks like Jason Campbell, who has been through the ringer so many times with so many offensive coordinators, is having a devil of a time adapting to the new scheme. This was also evident as the 'Skins gave anemic efforts toward the end of the pre-season. It could just be that Campbell is not the type who fits snugly into this kind of offense, and in that way it's kind of reminiscent of the Redskins' attempt to put Jeff George into the West Coast offense several years ago.
At any rate, what we have, at least with Campbell at the controls, is an attack that is somewhat dysfunctional against one that is highly functional. Few quarterbacks have their act together quite like Drew Brees, who was 23 of 32 for 343 yards in the opening game against Tampa Bay. Deuce McAllister is practicing again, and the Saints showed what Reggie Bush could do when out in the open field, as he scored on a 42-yard pass reception.
With Campbell throwing for just 4.9 yards an attempt, and producing only 11 first downs against new York, Jim Zorn may at some point turn to Todd Collins to take over the Washington offense, but that isn't about to happen just yet, because Campbell, after all, was a first-round draft choice. We know the Redskins have the capability to run the ball, and New Orleans allowed 7.3 yards a carry to Tampa Bay, but with new additions like Jonathan Vilma and Sedrick Ellis, pounding the rock will be less of a picnic as time progresses.
If we can have the much more efficient quarterback and passing game, and don't have to lay points, we consider it to be a bargain, and that's why we're with the New Orleans Saints in this game that is posted at pick'em in the BetUS football betting odds.
