Denver Looks for Big Win Against Washington

Having trouble dealing with your first couple losses of the season? Scared that you might never win again? Worried about a sputtering offense and a quarterback that has a history of sucking? Well fear not Broncos bettors because the Washington Redskins are here to help!

The Broncos have been absolutely manhandled by the Steelers in Pittsburgh in their past two games, getting outscored 17-38. In their last game against the Steelers, the entire nation got to see a team that couldn’t generate any offensive momentum and was held out of the endzone the entire game (the lone touchdown by Denver was a fumble recovery by the defense). That’s why a matchup against the 1-6-1 ATS Redskins can serve as a cure all. As Carson Palmer said last year to the press, “winning cures everything”.

This will be a mixed bag game for two players in Champ Bailey and Clinton Portis, who were essentially traded for each other right before the start of the 2004 NFL betting season. Bailey has become a mainstay in Denver and as one of the best cover guys in the league, he is a deadly threat to secure an interception. Sure, he’s losing a step, but he has Brian Dawkins and Ty Law to back him up in Denver.

For Portis, he has watched as the Redskins have stunk up the NFC since signing to stay on in Washington after the big trade. A mega year in 2003 where he rushed for 3,099 yards and 29 touchdowns in his first two years since matriculating from the University of Miami. Portis’ status remains “doubtful” for the game because of a blackout concussion that left Portis unconscious last week on Sunday. With Portis, the Redskins had a fighting chance. Without him…good luck.
