Sunday, November 1 - 4:05 PM ET

BetUS NFL football betting odds: SAN DIEGO -16.5, Total 41.5

In the BetUS NFL football betting odds, the Chargers are listed as a 16.5-point favorite, with a posted total of 41.5 points.

Here are some NFL football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

  • OAK has covered one of its last five games
  • OAK has lost four of its last five games SU
  • OAK has played four of its last six games UNDER the total
  • OAK has lost 19 of its last 25 road games SU
  • SD has covered two of its last seven games
  • SD has won eight of its last 12 games SU
  • SD has played eight of its last 11 games OVER the total
  • SD has covered 13 of its last 19 home games
  • SD has won 14 of its last 19 home games SU

Also...

  • SD has won the last 12 meetings SU
  • SD has covered 11 of the last 13 meetings
  • Three of the last four meetings have gone OVER the total
  • SD has covered five of the last six meetings as the home team
  • Seven of the last nine meetings in San Diego have gone UNDER the total

In recent years, San Diego has beaten up on Oakland pretty good. The Chargers have won 12 in a row against Oakland, and covered ten of those. Yet in the season opener, they had to survive some injuries and a little scare from the Oakland Raiders, especially after JaMarcus Russell performed a rarity - a touchdown pass into the hands of Louis Murphy that covered 57 yards and put Oakland ahead by three points. The final was 24-20, and the Chargers were actually outgained in the game.

Do you really think that is going to happen again? Russell and his team got shut out for the first time this season last week, a fact so unbelievable that I had to do a double take (not that they were shut out, but that it was the first time). In less than two quarters of play, Russell threw two interceptions and was stripped of the ball, making for a three-turnover day that would have projected to many more had Tom Cable not stepped in and replaced him with Bruce Gradkowski. That was the first time something like that had happened to Russell, which was also cause for a double take.

Perhaps Cable felt emboldened after finding out that he was not going to be prosecuted for busting up former assistant Randy Hanson's face.

This, from third-string quarterback Charlie Frye: "The things he continues to need to do is just stay the course and just maybe do a little bit more.”

Yeah, okay.

Defensive end Jay Richardson: "He's a confident guy. He's understanding work ethic and what it takes to be a No. 1 quarterback. He's getting there. We all have confidence in him and confidence in our scheme and what we're doing. We'll be fine."

No you won't.

San Diego Chargers got some things together last week. LaDainian Tomlinson had 71 yards rushing, which is a big deal these days. Phillip Rivers three three TD passes with no interceptions and no sacks. Kansas City had only 203 yards. Meanwhile, the Jets rolled over the Raiders for 26 first downs and 316 yards rushing. So you see, it wasn't all Russell's fault.

Did you know that double-digit favorites are 13-4 ATS this season in the football betting odds? Yeah, there are some bad teams out there. Let's go with the Chargers, the 16.5-point favorite in the BetUS NFL pro football betting lines.
