Chargers Must Bounce Back from Back to Back Losses

The New York Jets travel to San Diego to take on the Chargers tonight in what is sure to be a difficult game for Favre and the Jets to win. The Chargers have their backs against the wall, again, after losing their first two games of the season.

With Denver pulling one out versus the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, the Chargers have to win this game in order to keep pace with the Broncos. They would be 3 games behind the Broncos in the AFC West should they drop tonight’s game against the Jets.

Let’s get to the analysis!

New York Jets + 8 ½ vs. San Diego Chargers – 8 ½ online betting odds

BetUS online sportsbook over/under 44 ½ - 110.

Neither team has a great defense but like the Steelers/Eagles game proved on Sunday, the BetUS over/under is always a difficult wager. 44 ½ points is a lot. I have the feeling that the Chargers defense will come out to play in this game. They have to after giving up so many points to the Broncos last Sunday and the Carolina Panthers the Sunday before.

I also believe that the Chargers will try to get an easy lead and then sort of coast in this game. Because of that, and this is a very tepid choice on my part, I’m going to say that this Monday nighter goes under the online wagering odds of – 44 ½ - 110.

As far as the actual game is concerned, I have to back the Chargers at – 8 ½. Earlier during the week I wrote an analysis on this game stating that the Jets had a shot and should beat the BetUS NFL betting spread of 8 ½ points. I’m reversing my thinking by writing that the Chargers will win by at least 10 points in this game.

Even though LT is questionable, I just don’t feel the Chargers will let this one slip out of their grasp. This is especially true after losing to the Broncos because of a bad call last Sunday.

They will pressure Brett Favre up the middle with more intricate blitz packages, shut down the Jets’ running game, and hopefully dominate from beginning to end.

The Jets defense shouldn’t be able to handle LT, if he plays, or Darren Sproles if he starts. Chris Chambers has blossomed into a real weapon and Phillip Rivers is better than I thought.

My gut tells me that the Chargers win this game easily against the spread. Yes, I’m going against my earlier in the week analysis, but after the beating most NFL online betting fans went through yesterday, some reevaluation is certainly in order and not a sports handicapping faux pas. I’d rather be the Barrack Obama of NFL online wagering than the John McCain.

I’ll be making an online bet on the San Diego Chargers to cover the – 8 ½ point online betting spread in the BetUS online sportsbook tonight.

Good Luck!
