Monday Night Football Doubleheader
by BetUS Staff

Those who didn’t fare as well as hoped with their NFL betting on Sunday get two more chances to get it right Monday, as the NFL tosses out two matchups during primetime.
Getting things going will be Minnesota at Green Bay at Lambeau Field at 7:00pm ET. Normally this would be the season debut for Brett Favre, but with the longtime Packer now in New York it’ll instead be Aaron Rodgers who leads that team onto the gridiron.
And whether or not Rodgers can handle the pressure of replacing a legend in Green Bay will go a long way in determining how well the Packers do this season. Green Bay, of course, had a resurgence in 2007, winning 13 games and taking a spot amongst the NFC’s elite. With Favre gone, though, will Packers fans see their team start to regress?
Well, the oddsmakers at least like their chances of knocking the rival Vikings for a loss on Monday, as they’ve been pegged as 2-point home favorites on the NFL odds at BetUS (with the game’s total at 37.5 points). Green Bay went 2-0 both straight-up and against-the-spread versus Minnesota last season, winning 34-0 at home and 23-16 on the road (as favorites both times). Totals bettors saw the OVER/UNDER results go 1-1.
Here are the official injury reports for both the Vikings and Packers for Monday night:
Minnesota Injuries
Madieu Williams S Out Week 1 (neck)
Maurice Hicks RB Doubtful Week 1 (foot)
Robert Ferguson WR Probable Week 1 (ankle)
Tarvaris Jackson QB Probable Week 1 (knee)
Green Bay Injuries
Josh Sitton G Out Week 1 (knee)
James Jones WR Doubtful Week 1 (knee)
A.J. Hawk LB Questionable Week 1 (chest)
Charlie Peprah S Questionable Week 1 (hamstring)
Scott Wells C Questionable Week 1 (back)
Atari Bigby S Probable Week 1 (ankle)
Chad Clifton T Probable Week 1 (knees)
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila DE Probable Week 1 (knee)
Ryan Grant RB Probable Week 1 (hamstring)
Jeremy Thompson DE Probable Week 1 (groin)
Tracy White LB Probable Week 1 (ankle)
Packers running back Ryan Grant returned to the practice field on Saturday, but backup Brandon Jackson could still get a decent amount of carries on Monday; Grant had zero carries during the preseason. Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was practicing fully by the end of last week, and he’ll definitely be behind center for his team Monday night.
Monday’s second game sees the Broncos travelling to McAfee Coliseum to take on the Raiders (with kickoff scheduled for 10:15pm ET). Both Denver and Oakland missed the postseason in the AFC West last season; the Broncos were 7-9, the Raiders were 4-12.
In fact, the Raiders were tied for the second-worst record in the entire AFC (the Dolphins had just one victory, while the Chiefs and Jets also won four times). That’s enough to make the Broncos 3-point road faves at BetUS, with the total at 41. However, the Raiders did manage to beat the Broncos 34-20 in Oakland last year, with Denver winning their home game 23-20. The Raiders were 2-0 ATS in those two OVER results.
Here are the official injury reports for both the Broncos and Raiders for Monday night:
Denver Injuries
Tom Nalen C Out Week 1 (knee)
Ryan Torain RB Out Week 1 (elbow)
Boss Bailey LB Questionable Week 1 (ankle)
Louis Green LB Questionable Week 1 (hamstring)
Elvis Dumervil DE Probable Week 1 (finger)
Ebenezer Ekuban DE Probable Week 1 (back)
Darrell Jackson WR Probable Week 1 (ankle)
Marquand Manuel S Probable Week 1 (thumb)
Patrick Ramsey QB Probable Week 1 (right elbow)
Dewayne Robertson DT Probable Week 1 (knee)
Oakland Injuries
Rashad Baker S Questionable Week 1 (ankle)
Kalimba Edwards DE Questionable Week 1 (groin)
Javon Walker WR Questionable Week 1 (hamstring)
Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker wasn’t upgraded from ‘questionable’ over the course of last week, so he’s still considered a game-time decision for the team’s opener. Broncos center Tom Nalen, who is recovering from knee surgery, won’t return to practice until later on this week, while linebacker Boss Bailey is a game-time decision.
