The San Diego Chargers, (11-5 SU, 11-5 ATS, 8-6-2 O/U) narrowly missed out on reaching Super Bowl XLII last season, losing to the eventual AFC champion New England Patriots 21-12 in a sports betting and NFL gambling contest where their three best offensive players, running back LaDainian Tomlinson, quarterback Philip Rivers and tight end Antonio Gates either sat out the entire game, or were severely injured and didn’t make much of a contribution at all.
Here is a look at the Charger’s 2008 schedule, followed by my brief selections on each contest and final analysis for the BetUS online NFL wagering community.
09/07/08 Carolina Panthers
Carolina has taken a couple of huge steps backward the last two seasons. Win
09/14/08 @Denver Broncos
I think I see an early-season road loss for the Bolts here. Loss
09/22/08 New York Jets
Eric Mangini and the rebuilding Jets are going down hard in this contest. Win
09/28/08 @ Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are slowly moving in the right direction, but aren’t there just yet. Win
10/05/08 @Miami Dolphins
Get real NFL bettors – the Dolphins don’t have a shot here. Win
10/12/08 New England Patriots
I smell some serious payback in this contest. The Chargers win here. Win
10/19/08 @Buffalo Bills
Blowout, rout, call it what you like, the Bills are going down. Win
10/26/08 @New Orleans
I say Saints’ QB Drew Brees gives his former team another loss in this contest. Loss
BYE
11/09/08 Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs won’t win eight games in what looks like Herm Edwards’ last season. Win
11/16/08 @Pittsburgh Steelers
I like the Steelers a lot and say they win this big game over the Chargers. Loss
11/23/08 Indianapolis Colts
The Bolts will need a win here in the worst way and I say they narrowly get it. Win
11/30/08 Atlanta Falcons
I smell a cakewalk in this contest for the Chargers. Win.
12/04/08 Oakland Raiders
The Chargers go 2-0 against the Raiders this season. Win
12/14/08 @Kansas City Chiefs
My goodness, what a sweet late-season schedule for San Diego! Win
12/21/08 @Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I’m thinking the Chargers will be due for an unexpected loss right about now. Loss
12/28/08 Denver Broncos
San Diego gets to extract some revenge against the Broncos in this matchup. Win
12/28/08 Washington Redskins
San Diego also wins its final regular season home contest right here. Win
Chargers Regular Season Wins
Over 10½ Regular Season Wins -165
Under 10½ Regular Season Wins +125
Analysis: I’ve got the Chargers going an impressive 12-4 in 2008 and am genuinely surprised to see their season win total at only 10½ games. Even if the Bolts go 11-5 in 2008, they will still go ‘Over’ the 10½ -win total while making another serious push in the AFC to reach Super Bowl XLIII.
After narrowly falling to the New England Patriots in the AFC title tilt, I think it’s quite possible the Bolts could win the AFC Championship this season – and advise the entire BetUS online NFL betting community to look at the spectacular NFL Odds the Chargers are offering in the BetUS Sportsbook.
