NFL Week 9 Recap
by Al Simmons
In week 9 of the NFL I hit the money with two big upset picks with the Bengals rolling over the Ravens and the Titans winning their second game of the season and second in a row beating the 49ers in San Francisco.
The Bengals proved they can play hard hitting football, Cedric Benson has been a monster this season; he racked up 117 yards on the ground, becoming the first player to rush for 100-plus yards against the Ravens twice in one season since Jerome Bettis in 1997.
Now that Carson Palmer can rely on a good running game he has been able to throw more comfortably down the field, avoiding mistake and managing the game. Expect the Bengals to continue being a winning option in an AFC north division.
Another thing to notice is that despite the Colts and the Saints being undefeated, both teams have seen have had close calls. There is a chance that their luck may run out any week.
The Colts will host the Patriots in the upcoming BetUS.com Game of the Week, this will be another epic meeting between the two most prolific QBs of this decade Payton Manning and Tom Brady, folks it just doesn’t get any better than this.
Moving on I can’t leave out the luck that the Cowboys are having right now. Being at the top of the NFC East after beating the Eagles in Philadelphia is something to brag about; however I’m not completely sold on the Boys just yet. Keep in mind November and December aren’t Tony Romo’s best months.
The Cardinals are also an enigma, they win some big games against good team (like Chicago this past week) but they also lose against subpar teams (like Carolina a couple of weeks ago).
Teams that looked better than I expected: Titans, Texans, Panthers, Buccaneers, Cowboys and Chargers.
Teams that looked worse : Eagles, Bears, Ravens and Giants. Special mention to the Packers who lost to the Bucs becoming the last team in the NFL to get a win this season.
