BUYING

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS)

I said at the beginning of the season that this team was better then everyone thought it was. They were NFC South Champions two years ago and, with Gruden on the hot seat, they are gunning for it this year. The defense seriously put the clamps on the Saints and Jeff Garcia is as good as advertised.

Oddsmakers are starting to catch on to this Tampa Bay team, but an investment in our NFL futures for the NFC South crown isn’t a bad idea. The other three teams in this division are a mess and the Bucs have it clicking. Plus, they have one of the easiest schedules in the entire league. Don’t sleep on this team, and don’t be kicking yourself when I get to say “I told ya so”.

Next game: St. Louis vs. Tampa Bay (-3.5)

Green Bay Packers (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS)

No this isn’t going to be a Brett Favre love-fest. We all know that Favre can explode for those kinds of performances. That being said, I like this offense and the somewhat surprising emergence of Deshawn Wynn who averaged 5.0 yards per carry and had two scores. Wynn and Jackson could combine to form a very surprising running back tandem.

But defense wins championships and the Packers have a nasty one. A.J. Hawk has been chewing up players who dare to come across the middle and the front four has been getting great pressure on the quarterback. You’ll see just how good this defense is when they go up against San Diego this weekend.

Next game:  San Diego (-3.5) vs. Green Bay

Washington Redskins (2-0 SU, 0-1-1 ATS)

Defense, defense, defense. The Redskins massive upset of the Eagles puts them in the early season mix for the NFC East title. They had three, huge, drive killing sacks last night and completely overwhelmed the usually steady Donavan McNabb.

The Cowboys are the cream of the crop right now, but Jason Campbell looks better than expected, dropping 209 yards and a score on the Iggles. He also ran for 39 yards including a drive saving twenty yard scamper. As said, however, this defense looks vicious. And, by the way, Clinton Portis is alive and well.

Next game: Washington (-3.5) vs. New York Giants

SELLING

New Orleans (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS)

The only thing getting thrown around in New Orleans more than Mardi Gras beads is passing touchdowns against this terrible secondary. Without ripping apart this personnel, I’m pointing the finger straight at the coach. Payton was out muscled by Dungy and ripped to shreds by Gruden. He has the talent (he needs a secondary) so where are the touchdowns? The fire? Was last season just a miracle? Until I see evidence to the contrary, this is a team that you should sell on.

Next game: Tennessee vs. New Orleans (-5)

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1 SU, 0-2 ATS)

A loss to Vince Young and the Titans isn’t that bad. Giving up a touchdown and only hanging thirteen points on the Atlanta Falcons is really bad. David Garrard played much better, posting 272 yards and a deep touchdown pass to Reggie Williams. But the claws of the rushing game have been clipped, and this supposedly vicious defense is nowhere to be found. These Jaguars are nothing more then kittens, and the spread is killing them too.

Next game:  Jacksonville vs. Denver (-3.5)

Cincinnati Bengals (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS)

How much do I not like this team? A ton. The defense is giving up 434 yards per game, third worst in the league. Besides the fact that the Cleveland Browns game skews their stats, they should never have let that happen. Derek Anderson? Jamal Lewis? Are you kidding me? The Bengals are like that hot, sexy blonde you grab at the bar only to discover at home that she starfishes in bed. Seattle will yank these idiots back to the ground this weekend.

Next game: Seattle vs. Cincinnati (-3)

Philadelphia Eagles (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS)

Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown are not number one receivers. Brian Westbrook is not a one man team. This defense is softer than it has ever looked before. And to cap things all off, all Donavan McNabb is doing well right now is a great impersonation of Kerry Collins. McNabb says that black quarterbacks have it tougher? Maybe. But you know who gets ripped? Any quarterback that plays like you did over the past two weeks.

Next game:  Detroit vs. Philadelphia (-7)
