NFL Future Prop Betting - - Who Wins the Awards?

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

With a month left in the 2008-2009 NFL Regular Season, sports betting fans have a lot of ways to go in terms of which individual players deserve recognition for individual awards.

The races have tightened up at the top with some players falling out of the running for awards while other players have slowly made their way to the top. Success in prop betting requires taking a look into a crystal ball and deciphering exactly how each player will do in the rest of the NFL Regular Season games.

It also requires a strong ability as an online sportsbook NFL betting fan to drop those players that haven’t performed well.

Let’s take a look at the biggest individual award races this NFL Season!

NFL Rookie of the Year Best Online Betting Interests

1. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons, quarterback - - fair online betting odds 1/5 - - Ryan wins this award easily because the Falcons should make the playoffs. He’s amazing. He went into San Diego this past Sunday and beat one of the NFL pre-season favorites to go to the Super Bowl by simply playing fantastic football. This guy is a winner.

** There is no other player in this category worth mentioning because unless Ryan gets hurt in the next three weeks and someone goes crazy, the award is his. He’s the biggest online football betting lock of the year.

NFL Defensive Player of the Year Best Online Betting Interests

1. Troy Polamalu, Pittsburgh Steelers, safety - - fair online betting odds 4/1 - - Polamalu is the lone defensive player in the NFL that can dominate a game from beginning to end. How many times has Polamalu come up with the interception, broken up a pass, or made a key tackle to ensure a Pittsburgh victory this season? He’s an amazing player that requires some online betting dollars in this category.

2. DeMarcus Ware, Dallas Cowboys, linebacker - - fair online betting odds 5/1 - - Ware leads the NFL in sacks with fifteen. He figures to get a few more. If he can get five more, then it will be difficult not to make him the best online wagering interest in this category. Ware is a dynamite defensive end and 20 sacks is a lot of freaking sacks.

3. Joey Porter, Miami Dolphins, linebacker - - fair online betting odds 8/1 - - He’s already the NFL defensive comeback player of the year but should he increase his sack total and take over Ware’s spot, he becomes a favorite to win NFL Defensive Player of the year. The Dolphins might make the playoffs which would help his cause.

NFL Offensive Player of the Year Best Online Wagering Interests

1. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints, quarterback - - fair online betting odds 5/1 - - Usually the NFL likes to split the MVP Award and Offensive Player of the year awards. That means that Brees, who is on his way to smashing Dan Marino’s single season passing yards record, is the most likely candidate to win this award. The Saints are god awful on defense, but their offense has been terrific. NFL betting fans should seriously consider a wager on Brees in this category because even though the Saints won’t make the playoffs, the NFL will want to recognize Brees’s achievement.

2. Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals, quarterback - - fair online betting odds 8/1 - - Warner is the reason that the Cardinals will make the playoffs and might win a game while they are there. Yes, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin are great, but it’s taken the talents of Kurt Warner to make sure that Fitzgerald and Boldin get into the end zone. He’s a solid online betting interest in this category.

3. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings, running back - - fair online betting odds 10/1 - - It’s going to sound strange because I don’t like A.P. for this award, but I love him top take home the MVP. He’s the reason that the Vikings are now in sole possession of the NFC North lead. He’s also the reason that NFL online betting fans love to make online bets on the Vikings at this point in the season.

NFL MVP Best Online Betting Interests

1. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings, running back - - fair online betting odds 4/1 - - If A.P. stays healthy and the Vikings do end up winning the NFC North Division, then A.P. is the MVP of the NFL. Peterson will end up leading the NFL in rushing yards and it’s time that MVP voters recognize that there isn’t another player in the league that causes as much frustration for defensive coordinators as Adrian Peterson. This guy is the real deal. An MVP after his second season in the NFL? Yes, it’s entirely possible. My online wagering dollars will be on this guy to take home the MVP trophy.

2. Ben Rothelisberger, Pittsbrugh Steelers, quarterback - - fair online betting odds 6/1 - - Yes, online sportsbook football betting fans who disagree are right in asserting that Big Ben isn’t ranked in the top five in any statistical category, but he’s the reason that the Pittsburgh Steelers have run through one of the toughest NFL schedules in recent memory with only three losses. This is the team to beat in the AFC Conference this year, not Kerry Collins and the Tennessee Titans. He’s a serious candidate for the MVP because he is the undisputed leader of one of the best teams in football.

3. Eli Manning, New York Giants, quarterback - - fair online betting odds 6/1 - - Like Big Ben, he’s another guy who won’t show up in any statistical category but let’s be honest, without Eli the Giants probably aren’t as good as they are. He can manage a football game as well as anyone I’ve seen in a long time, including his brother up there in Indianapolis, and nothing every phases Eli. Expect fair online wagering odds, but this guy deserves some mentioning for the award.

4. Kerry Collins, Tennessee Titans, quarterback - - fair online betting odds 10/1 - - It’s a long shot because Collins will get the NFL offensive comeback player of the year award, but if Eli implodes, Big Ben gets hurt and A.P. blows out a knee or something, then Collins becomes a prime candidate for MVP. He took over for one of the arguably better up and coming players in the NFL and he has been spectacular. What a professional Kerry Collins is. He would get my vote if I had one, but as far as online wagering is concerned make sure you get good online odds before putting money on him to win the MVP.

Good Luck!
