Question:

Me and a couple buddies were having an argument about the Bears. Everyone is really down on them in the last couple of weeks but I keep telling my friends that it won't affect the spreads that much because they are home and the NFC is weak. Can you help settle an argument and tell me what you think the Bears spread will be if they have to play the following teams in the playoffs:

Home:

Seattle

Dallas

Philly

Giants

NO

Neutral:

Balt

NE

Indy

SD

Our response:

Dear Dave,

According to one of our bookies, “My guesses would be as follow…..they would be about 8.5-9.5 favorites over Seattle or Dallas. I would think they would be pretty much the same over Philly and probably 11 over the NYG. New Orleans is altogether different, because they would face them in the championship game, where Chicago would be approx 5-6-point faves.

As he did not touch the AFC teams you asked about, I’ll make my own educated guesses:

BALT -1

NE -3.5

INDY -6

SD +2.5
