NCAA Football Furious Seven – Trojans Storming Forward
by Tim Furious

Maybe a lot of you were mad that I pegged the Trojans as the second-best team behind Georgia last week. Well get ready to bust the doors of the hinges, because I haven’t moved them yet. The Trojans got the week off, while Georgia throttled Central Michigan. You can’t move if you don’t play unless everyone around does dismally. Who’s up and who’s down? Let’s find out and get you set up for this weekend in college football betting!
1. Georgia Bulldogs (2-0 SU, 1-0 ATS)
The Bulldogs handled Central Michigan pretty easily in a 56-17 thrashing. They continued a winning streak that carried them to a 5-0 SU record, and now face the South Carolina Gamecocks who are coming off a stunning loss to Vanderbilt that was heard round the country.
Knowshon Moreno continued his Heisman campaign with 168 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Matt Stafford had a modest 213 yard day with 2 scores to boot. The defense allowed only 59 yards rushing, making it hard to knock the Bulldogs out of the top spot after such an outing. The Dawgs are 4-2 ATS on the road and have only gone 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against South Carolina. However, this Georgia team is different. As it stands, this is a team you can believe in.
Next game: Georgia -7 vs. South Carolina
2. USC Trojans (1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS)
The game of the week will bring the marching Trojans against the Ohio State Buckeyes. OSU stumbled against state rival Ohio but gutted out a win with a final score of 24-17. They have to be preying that Wells gets back on his feet by week’s end!
The Trojans have to destroy OSU to prove that they are the cream of the crop. This is their make-or-break game not only for the team, but for quarterback Mark Sanchez as well.
Next game: OSU vs. USC -10.5
3. Florida Gators (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS)
Tim Tebow and the chompers made short work of the Miami Hurricanes. Tebow had 311 total yards and 2 touchdowns in an effort that silenced a 23-year long losing streak to Miami. Percy Harvin didn’t see much action but gets another week to heal as the Gators rest and recuperate until they visit the pesky Tennessee Volunteers on Sept 20th.
Next game: Florida vs. Tennessee (Week 4)
4. Oklahoma Sooners (2-0 SU, 1-0 ATS)
For those of you that thought the Cincinnati Bearcats were going to give the Oklahoma Sooners a run, I’m pretty sure Sam Bradford has something to say. The Heisman candidate tossed 395 yards and 5 touchdowns, but notched two picks in the process. That’s usually a no-no for the mistake-free Bradford but a win is a win.
A date with the hapless Washington Huskies awaits. They’re outscoring opponents by 40.5 points so far. Washington’s losing by a margin of -17.5 points. Any takers?
Next game: Oklahoma -20.5 vs. Washington
5. Missouri Tigers (2-0 SU, 1-0 ATS)
Well that was hilarious. Missouri State showed up to got demolished in a laughable 52-3 effort. Now Nevada visits Missouri this weekend to see if the Tigers are really BCS caliber stuff. We say they are. Going 10-1 SU in their last 11 games at home is enough to convince me. Get on board as the Tigers rewards their faithful betting backers this weekend.
Next game: Nevada vs. Missouri -26.5
6. Texas Longhorns (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS)
Either the Texas Longhorns are for real, or they’re flirting with disaster again. A 42-13 win didn’t make headlines, but it certainly proved Colt McCoy’s case for the Heisman. The gunslinger had 282 passing yards with 4 touchdowns to lead his team. Can they keep this pace?
Their defense has a lot of questions. Most of those won’t be tested against Arkansas this weekend, but at least we’ll see if McCoy is deserving of being mentioned for Player of the Year and if that’s worth a shot in our NCAA football futures.
Next game: Arkansas vs. Texas -24
7. Ohio State Buckeyes (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS)
The Buckeyes have one game to put themselves back in to the realm of respect before they drop off. I’ll give them the match against USC. Beanie Wells or not, this is one of the best programs in the country and they have zero excuses for a lack of talent and depth. Zero. A loss to USC and their online betting faithful need to abandon ship. But let’s let them have a crack at the Trojans before we start tossing out the life preservers.
Next game: OSU vs. USC -10.5
